A 2008 Chevrolet Impala lies behind that attention-grabbing paint job on my test drive this week. The other interesting thing about this vehicle is that it came with an almost full tank of E85 (85-per-cent ethanol) fuel.
The reason that’s unusual is that there are only three E85 filling stations in Canada and all of them are in Ontario. From a B.C. perspective, why would you buy a vehicle that runs on E85 fuel? And for that matter, what’s the point in even trying to sell them? Read the rest of this entry »

Sometimes it’s good to have your back against the wall. That might be the only chance for General Motors Corp., whose bankruptcy prospects were rumoured as recently as two years ago, to restore not only its health but its status as the world’s leading automaker.
Later this month, a team of GM engineers will begin putting the industry’s first plug-in hybrid car, the Chevrolet Volt, through its paces on company test tracks. The Volt is the industry’s first plug-in vehicle. With a likely sticker price of $35,000 and due in showrooms in 2010, it’s GM’s biggest-ever technological gamble.

Some people will go to any lengths to avoid driving a minivan. Armed with this knowledge, manufacturers have been scrambling to produce large crossovers – vehicles that offer minivan spaciousness, SUV styling and a carlike ride. The latest addition to this segment is the 2008 Saturn Outlook, an all-new crossover sport-utility vehicle that seats up to eight passengers.

This is probably the best looking Corvette I have seen to date! Black paint, black rims but no tinted windows? Ouch! No matter, it is still quite impressive the amount of work that has been put into this gorgeous car.
From the article: “Dubbed the Corvette Z06 Black Edition, Geiger adds a unique body kit with a Ferrari F430-ish rear end and LED taillights, as well as a more aggressive front lip. Black painted rims are available in both 18- and 19-inch sizes, as well. Output of the 7.0-liter V8 is listed as unchanged at 505 bhp and 470 lb-ft torque, although Geiger does offer a Stage 1 performance kit for the Z06 that includes a new air intake system, upgraded exhaust manifolds, and a free-flowing exhaust system good for 542 bhp.”
