The 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid- the first General Motors vehicle to use the company’s all-new two-mode hybrid system has been named Green Car Journal’s 2008 Green Car of the Year. The award was presented at a press conference this morning at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
“This is a milestone in many respects,” says Green Car Journal editor and publisher Ron Cogan. “People don’t think ‘green’ when SUVs are concerned, and for generally good reason since SUVs often get poor fuel economy compared to most other vehielces. Chevrolet’s Tahoe Hybrid changes this dynamic with a fuel efficiency improvement of up to 30 percent compared to similar vehicles equipped with a standard V-8.”

DRIVE THE WAY YOU LIVE.
You pride yourself on living life to the fullest. Every day, and in every way. Fortunately, there’s a vehicle that measures up to the demands your lifestyle places on it and adapts to life at your pace: the 2010 Chevrolet HHR. Its styling is bold. Its functionality is just as captivating, from its best-in-class fuel effi ciency* with 6.1 L/100 km highway and 9.2 L/100 km city rating** – to its incredibly flexible interior and spacious cargo area. Its safety package is of an equally high calibre with a standard StabiliTrak® electronic stability control system, ABS brakes and traction control. That’s in addition to the highest possible U.S. government frontal and side-impact safety ratings.† So take to the road with the same enthusiasm you take to everything else in your life. In the 2010 Chevrolet HHR.

TO THE VICTOR GO THE SPOILS.
Beyond its sporty styling, HHR is equipped with a host of winning features that separate it from the crowd. That includes such standard comfort and convenience features as air conditioning, cruise control, power windows, mirrors and door locks. Also standard is a Driver Information Centre which includes the GM Oil Life Monitoring System that informs you when your oil requires changing. There’s also a manual six-way driver seat adjuster on LS and a power eight-way driver seat on LT models. If you want to fuel your competitive instincts even more, while saluting Canada’s Olympic and Paralympic athletes, HHR offers the new Team Canada Edition. It features chrome exterior accents, a power sunroof, exterior badging, fog lights and a Pioneer® premium seven-speaker sound system. HHR – it gives you a competitive edge.

IT’S LOADED – IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE.
HHR isn’t only loaded with standard equipment. You can also load it with a huge amount of your stuff. In fact, with the rear seats folded down, HHR opens up a substantial 1633 L (57.7 cu. ft.) of space – that’s more than the Mazda5.* And you can take full advantage of HHR’s space thanks to the fold-flat front-passenger seat and 60/40 split-folding rear seatbacks that allow you to carry objects up to eight feet (2400 mm) in length. Storage compartments at the top of the instrument panel and concealed bins in the rear cargo area provide added capacity and convenience. And with 24 different interior configurations – HHR invites you to load it up.

THE FEELING IS POSITIVELY ELECTRIC.
Inside HHR, the electronics are as sophisticated as the controls. For openers, every HHR is equipped with an auxiliary audio input jack for your iPod® or other MP3 player. Listening to your library of tunes is even more exciting when played through the available Pioneer premium seven-speaker sound system with its 260-watt amplifi er and 10-inch rear subwoofer. In fact, the sound is so good, you’re going to want to tell your friends all about it – which you can do even more easily using available Bluetooth® hands-free mobile phone connectivity. Clearly, in HHR you have all the right connections – the electronics are almost as riveting as the drive.

FROM HEARTBREAKER TO RECORDBREAKER.
First you’ll be swept up by the charismatic look of HHR SS, with its 18-inch high-polished forged aluminum wheels, rear spoiler and unique lower ground effects mouldings. You’ll also be swept away by its performance, thanks to its 260 horsepower 2.0L turbocharged ECOTEC engine with power and fuel efficiency boosted by Variable Valve Timing (VVT) and Direct Injection. Helping you take full advantage of all that power is the no-lift upshift manual five-speed transmission, available Brembo® four-piston front brake calipers and a limited slip differential. The results speak for themselves: HHR SS smashed the class record at the famed Nürburgring racing circuit by nearly 11 seconds. A different brand of performance altogether: HHR SS.

IT’S A SIGN.
The fact that HHR is available in a dedicated Panel body configuration shows that this is a vehicle designed
specifi cally with cargo capacity in mind. That is demonstrated by the fact that the HHR Panel provides 1775 L
(62.7 cu. ft.) of cargo volume. The HHR Panel also gives you the opportunity to display your company’s graphics and name. A mobile sign showcasing your company’s capabilities – as well as those of HHR Panel.

BOLD, SURE – BUT SAFE TOO.
HHR lets you revel in a bolder form of driving – with the assurance of a thorough safety package. It includes a series of advanced driver control features, such as the StabiliTrak electronic stability control system, a four-wheel anti-lock braking system (ABS) and traction control. Unfortunately, not all collisions are preventable, so HHR also offers comprehensive occupant protection earning the highest possible U.S. government safety rating – five stars – for both the frontal and side-impact crash tests.* HHR – even its safety stands out.

Car set a new production ’sedan’ lap record on the Nordschleife circuit at Germany’s notorious Nurburgring track
Globe & Mail by Bob English
Cadillac has just revealed it will introduce a perception-altering, fuel-frugal, four-cylinder model in 2010 in response to the sudden price increases at the pump and impending stiffer fuel economy regulations.
But in the meantime - at an exclusive private motoring club in the Catskills north of New York - it has just launched a new model created to modify the way the world thinks about its cars in an entirely different way.
This one, with a more Cadillac-like eight cylinders, and really big ones at that, and a very un-Cadillac-like supercharger, consumes fuel at an absolutely prodigious rate - at least while propelling itself over the blind-crested kink in the tony Monticello Motor Club’s main straight in fifth gear at better than 200 km/h. Officially Official: GM reveals the 2011 Chevy Volt!

Everyone who has been waiting with bated breath for the past year and a half to see the production version of the Chevy Volt can now breathe a big sigh of relief. After some extremely unflattering press shots shots were accidentally released last week, people were extremely disappointed with what appeared to be little more than a Prius clone. Anyone who spends time photographing cars knows how hard it can be to make them look good and how easy it is to make them look really awful. Unfortunately, those shots that were unapproved and never supposed to be released anyway fell into the latter category. Read the rest of this entry »
