Oshawa, Ontario (Monday, December 1, 2008) - GM Canada today announced pricing for the 2-mode hybrid version of the award winning Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 seriescrew cab pickup trucks. With a starting MSRP of $46,725 for 2WD models and $50,875 for the 4WD models, the 2009 Silverado and Sierra hybrid pickups establish an industry-first by achieving an impressive 32-percent improvement in city fuel consumption and a 23-percent improvement in combined fuel consumption, while also delivering the capability expected of a full-size pickup truck. Kingston Whig-Standard by Joe Duarte: I love a challenge. If I’m handed something with the potential to be beneficial on some level, I’m going to do everything in my power to maximize that benefit.
Every time I drive a hybrid, I want to get my fuel economy as low as possible, within the boundaries of sensible driving - in other words, I won’t go driving at 80 km/h on the highway or 40 along a signed 60 road, but I will search out 40 km/h stretches of road in order to maximize running on batteries as long as possible.
