From the “not surprising but still utterly awesome” department comes the first official photos and details of Cadillac’s coolest car ever, the 2011 CTS-V Sport Wagon. It’s a simple concept, but for a while we were all wondering if GM was going to have the balls to actually produce it. Wonder no more, kids: the CTS-V Wagon is here!

It takes all of the tasty mechanical hardware from the CTS-V Sedan and Coupe, and packs it into the sexy wagon bodystyle. That means that under the hood is the same 6.2L Supercharged LSA V8, derived from the almighty Corvette ZR-1’s motor. With 556bhp and 551lb-ft of torque on tap, that should certainly be enough to haul the kids to soccer practice. Thanks to an Eaton TVS four-rotor supercharger and integrated intercooler, boost is of the instantaneous, tire-melting low-end variety. Like the Coupe and Sedan, you can get the Wagon with a 6-speed automatic… as well as a Tremec TR6060 6-speed manual. Think about that one for a minute: a station wagon with a blown Corvette motor, a six-speed stick shift, and a Cadillac badge! You can almost hear the American National Anthem playing in the background, while the faint smell of apple pie and baseball wafts through the air. None of those sissie Euro-wagons can step to this; even if they bothered to sell them here!

Other than that, what else is there to say? GM took one of the best (if not the best) sports sedans on the market, and then made it more useful and more attractive. Does it get any better than this? Look for the CTS-V Sport Wagon at this week’s New York Auto Show. The CTS-V Wagon will be going into production later this year, so the question isn’t whether or not the General is going to make it: the question is, are you awesome enough to get one?
