The end of June marked the 60th anniversary of Corvette production, which started in 1953. To commemorate the impending launch of the all-new, seventh-generation Corvette, we revealed the 2014 Corvette Stingray Premiere Edition at the National Corvette Museum’s 60th Anniversary event in Bowling Green.
Chevrolet is only planning to produce 500 of these top-of-the-line 3LT models, all of which will feature a Laguna blue tint coat exterior, visible clear coated carbon-fiber roof, and the Z51 Performance Package with Magnetic Ride Control and Performance Exhaust. Premiere Edition models will also be outfitted with unique accessories, including Torque style wheels in chrome, “stinger” hood stripe, “Stingray” – logo interior sill plates, floor mats, and wheel caps and a 5 piece custom Corvette branded luggage from Thule.
The name Stingray has been reserved to mark only special generations of Corvette. It was first used on the 1959 Stingray Racer, and again in 1963 with the launch of the second-generation Corvette Sting Ray in production. So it was particularly exciting to reveal this Premiere Edition vehicle to welcome the return of the seventh-generation Corvette Stingray.
Each of the 500 Premiere Edition vehicles will get a unique vehicle identification number, beginning with 300001, as well as an exclusive numbered dash plaque commemorating the limited-edition model. While pricing is not yet available, customers who are interested in the Premiere Edition should contact their Chevrolet dealer.
Since Corvette made its debut in 1953, approximately 1.5 million Corvettes have been produced. The past six decades are a true testament to the way in which Corvette has been woven into the fabric of American culture as the sports car of choice that offers the best in today’s technology, performance, and Design.
The excitement and anticipation we have seen for the Corvette Stingray has been amazing and in many ways has brought back the passion that is Corvette. Above all we are very excited about the 2014 Corvette Stingray and we look forward to celebrating many more Corvette anniversaries.
